We are looking for descendants of U.S.-Dakota War victims to gather during the commemoration week to share stories. We are preparing a registry of those ancestors and descendants, whether killed, captured, wounded or escaped.

Militia or Mounted Calvary Regiments
I am currently looking to correspond with friends whose ancestor(s) were in the Militia or Mounted Calvary regiments that fought the Dakota Indians in those early hours and days of the U.S. Dakota War, in and around New Ulm. My great grandfather was one of those soldiers. I am not sure if I will be able to make the commemoration, but would like to discuss these events with someone in like circumstances. - L. Gardner
